Apparently, the global smartphone market has come to a halt in 2017 as 1472 million devices were shipped last year in comparison to 1473 million smartphones in 2016. The latest estimates from market research firm IDC has revealed some staggering stats in which it has been mentioned that the global smartphone market has reached its saturated level and 2018 might be the year when the number of devices getting shipped may decline.

One of the worrisome factor is that the shipments diminished by 6% in the last quarter of 2017 which is an indication of even distressing things to come this year.

The IDC manager Anthony Scarcella believes:
“With ultra-high-end flagships all the rage in 2017, many of these new bezel-less wonders proved to be more of a luxury than a necessity among upgraders”
The possible way for Apple, Samsung and other smartphone manufacturers to maintain a certain pedigree of growth is to persuade the consumers of paying hefty prices for the supposedly cool devices.
