Would it surprise you to learn that 90% of the digital content out there has been created within the last two years? Digital cameras have been around since the 1970s, though they weren’t really adopted until the late 1990s, and digital photography didn’t hit its heyday until the advent of the first iPhone in 2007. This brought about the possibility of things like Instagram and made YouTube a huge success, and loads of digital content have followed ever since. So what can we do with all this information?

There are lots of industries out there leveraging the insane amounts of data they now have access to for a number of different reasons. In 2017 40% of Fortune 1000 companies leveraged big data to do things like decrease expenses, speed up current efforts, launch new products and services, and increase revenues. But one of the greatest things industries can do with big data is to create the next big wave of major innovations.

One of the biggest innovations we’ve seen since the creation of smartphones and the Internet is the digitization of music. No longer do artists have to cut into their profits by ordering a certain number of physical copies of their music in advance and hope they sell them all - albums can be rented in digital format instantly, cutting down on costs and making customers happier by giving them instant access.

What will the next big wave of digital innovation hold? Learn more about the future of digital content from this infographic!
