Gone are the days when the younger lot were dependent on Facebook and Twitter for their social needs. Ever since Instagram and, more importantly, Snapchat has burst onto the scene, people all around the world, U.S. in particular, have preferred using the newer social networks.

As many as 6,000 teenagers were polled for PiperJaffray’s bi-annual ‘Taking Stock With Teens’ survey where it was revealed that 45% of U.S. teens use Snapchat in the spring of 2018 in comparison to 17% in the fall of 2015. The second favorite social platform the U.S. teenagers was Instagram with 26% while Twitter and Facebook were preferred by 9% and 8% respectively.

Can Snapchat and Instagram take over two of the oldest social networks to become the new Twitter and Facebook?
