Google absorbs everything that stands in its way - that's just the nature of the game!
Since its launch in 1996, Google has made the move from search engine to technology titan, consuming everything that stood in its way. If a company has a technology or services that Google finds useful, the negotiations begin. To date, Google has bought over 130 companies. $1.3 Billion was spent on acquisitions in the first half of 2013 alone.

Google spent $22 Billion in acquiring other companies in its first 14 years in business.
In the past year, Google has spent billions acquiring some of the world's foremost robotics and artificial intelligence research companies. Their operations remain largely secretive, but reports suggest they're making big strides towards universal internet access and personal technologies.
