For a brief time, it looked like that the world is recovering from the pandemic. However, the COVID-19 cases are on the rise yet again, and many people are re-assessing the situation of the market and the potential for recovery from the pandemic. It seems that the world will have to deal with the pandemic for some months.

The United States economy went from full employment to the worst jobless rate in only three months during the pandemic. The question arises what will be the future of the world economy. LinkedIn launched a new tool this week to measure the key economic indicators during the pandemic. The tool is called Recovery Tracker and it provides insights into how the impacts of the pandemic are changing over time.

According to George Anders, Senior editor at large, LinkedIn, the new US Recovery Tool will tap into the labor market data. LinkedIn has around 690 million worldwide members and over 160 million of these members are located in the United States. The key areas of the data provided by the platform include member hiring, worker confidence, and job postings, LinkedIn added.

The Recovery Tracker tool will highlight key trends in various areas such as new COVID-19 cases, initial unemployment claims, LinkedIn labor stress index, LinkedIn Hiring Rate, job postings, small business job postings, and confidence in employer outlook. The LinkedIn Labor Stress Index tracks the number of people who are seeking new jobs.

According to the data provided by the platform, the United States labor market has not improved since the mid of April 2020. In a three week span, over 16 million initial unemployment claims were filed by the members. LinkedIn provided a chart in which three out of five data signals are color-coded red dark. This color represents the worst showing, while two are color-coded orange. This color represents below baseline performance. The blue color-coded data signals indicate that the performance is better.

These insights could help business owners to understand key market elements. If you want to keep yourself updated with the new US Recovery Tracker tool, you can subscribe to the Workforce Insights newsletter of the platform. We hope that the chart will start to look a lot bluer in the upcoming few months. The upcoming editions of LinkedIn’s Workforce Insights newsletter will provide updates on the overall Recovery Tracker and in-depth looks at particular industries.

Google Gives A Real Time Experience To Its Users By Rolling Out ARCore Depth API Feature

$

Google and Android developers have unleashed a new feature that will give a better and thrilling experience to Android users. This feature is widely available for all compatible Android devices.

The new addition to the feature list is ARCore Depth API. It will use the rear camera of a supported smartphone based on depth-from-motion technology. It evaluates the depth of the picture, captured by the rear camera. It further computes the distance of each point in the picture.

This feature will allow more realism when it comes to the AR feature. It is done through API. It gives depth to every pixel in the frame. It can be fun and cool at some time. Imagine adding a snowy effect to your video or image? And the cherry on the top is that it looks realistic.

If you feel it as a complicated concept, here we’ll make it clear to you. Remember using a Snapchat filter that had a hotdog dancing in it? It automatically disappeared if any object appeared in front of it? That is exactly the API new feature. API has managed very well to play with Artificial Intelligence.

This feature can help make confident buying decisions. A user can virtually place its favorite side table or a rug in his living place and evaluate if it goes with space or not. This feature will give a better preview result. Isn’t that amazing?

This feature will turn out to be very helpful in 3D games like Five Nights at Freddy’s AR: Special Delivery. This game requires a real-time experience. You, as a player, will be attacked by the character inside the game and you have to defend yourself by hiding behind the couch, furniture, or a door.

Director of Research and Engineering at Google, Izadi explained that this feature won’t require any extra efficient camera. The depth map is created as the user steadily moves the device. The smartphone calculates the depth within no time and presents the result on the screen.

This feature is available to 200 million users. A user can download ARCore Depth Lab from Google Play Store. The app can guide more about ARCore depth feature uses. More uses could be surface interaction, realistic physics, and surrounding transversal.

Google is bringing some new analytics tools for news publishers

Google is looking for ways for newsrooms so that they understand their online audiences and how they feed into their business in general. This falls under the category of the Google News Initiative, which was introduced in 2018 as a way to fund journalism and to support the industry. Since then, Google has launched two products that are on top of Google Analytics: News Consumer Insights (NCI) which is designed for publishers to make more profits by helping them grow their audience and Realtime Content Insights (RCI) which helps newsrooms see more up-to-date and trending content.

Amy Adams Harding, the director of analytics and revenue optimization for news and publishing, said that they knew that there was a demand for such products because of their partners but there was a difficulty as to how they would go about it. She also added that it was important that the products were free to use and accessible to anyone using Google Analytics.

Recently, Google introduced version 2.0 for NCI and RCI, adding a new feature called the News Tagging Guide (NTG) which is supposed to make it easier for publishers to collect the data they need in three categories: video analytics, user engagements, and reader revenue. Publishers can select the category and the specific types of data they want to track after which Google will give them JavaScript that they can input on their website.

The NCI now includes personalized recommendations for the publishers. It may highlight signup activities to a publisher’s newsletter and suggest ways to improve them. Harding said that NCI didn’t lack recommendations before and had to refer to generalized playbooks rather than having relevant recommendations. RCI has been extended to include similar data and also historical performance data about video content, enabling the publishers to see which stories and in what time period they performed the best. It will also track social engagements and identifies which stories are doing better between casual readers, brand loyalists, and loyal readers.

Anntao Diaz, the head NCI, RCI, and Google Surveys for Publishers, said that one is not better than the other. He suggested that different readers are attracted by different articles that serve various purposes, which may build relationships with a loyal audience who pay for subscriptions and also increase the growth of the total audience.

Google has already begun testing the new features with various publishers like Time and Lee Enterprises. As Kyle Rickhoff, the director of analytics at Lee Enterprises said that the new version of NCI, which is powered by NTG, improves their understanding of readers’ engagement and helps them prioritize business opportunities with better data.

YouTube Comes Up With A New Refresher On How Its Platform and Policies Work

YouTube has become a nerve center for almost every topic that is trending. People visit YouTube to learn, get information, and implement themselves. YouTube provides another version that is kids friendly, called “YouTube Kids”. Under this, YouTube keeps a strict check on the content that is uploaded. It doesn’t allow any 18+ content or something to which kids shouldn’t be exposed. Such content is called age-restricted content.

While every social media platform is coming up with something new, how YouTube could stay behind? YouTube came up with a blog post in which they answered every query they get daily. The most common query was “How YouTube Works”. Under this blog, they revealed their strategies to choose ads, recommend videos, and trending videos.

How YouTube Works is a new page, created by YouTube to explain their policies, strategies, terms and conditions, and a lot more.

In its policies section, YouTube disclosed rules about its monetization policy, recommendations, or suggested videos, privacy, and appearance of Ads. In their policies, they also laid stress on sensitive content. They explained that what type of content one should upload and what type of content a user should avoid uploading. Being a responsible forum, YouTube doesn’t support harmful and offensive content. Any content that is violating YouTube policies gets removed.

They further explained how they evaluate content that has to be removed. It is evaluated through the following means:
  • Automated Flagging
  • Specific Trusted Flagger
  • NGO
  • Government Agency
  • User
Trusted Flagger is the YouTube trusted source that includes NGOs or government agencies that are committed to play their vital role in stiffing the genuine content among the policy-violating ones.

Not only this but YouTube sometimes removes the video if it gets no views or below then 10 views.

YouTube is a source of awareness for people. Many people have started their channel. For example, Ryleigh Hawkins a citizen of New Zealand started her channel. Her videos were informative, humors yet joyful. She earned an indefinite number of followers from all around the world.

YouTube is not only a source of complicated or humorous information; instead, it solves daily life problems too. i.e. how to fix a broken garage door or how to solve a mathematics problem.

Lately, video chat has become one of the hot-selling points of any smart screen. Today people are valuing it as one of the most important features whether they plan onto buy Amazon Echo Show or Google’s Next Hub Max. However, the later despite being the best overall, still offered one-on-one calls.

It was all well for people who were not fond of group calling with family or friends. But post the COVID-19 pandemic, group chats all of a sudden became a necessity and we saw a proof of that in the form of business conferencing apps like Zoom experiencing a massive surge in usage. Today, the ones who still may not like group calling still has to be a part of office virtual office meetings or even students who are bound to attend online classes.

Google saw the potential and brought good news by finally allowing group video calling on Hub Max with Duo.

With the implementation of this new feature, up to 32 people would be allowed to join the group chat and the device will auto-frame the subjects in the picture - a basic show off of its capabilities. The video calling feature will also release on many other Google-ready smartphone screens as well including LG, JBL, and Lenovo.

All users are required to do is create a group on Duo which should be connected via the mobile app and you are good to use the feature with your voice.

Google will stay professionally focused with this feature as well. Previously, the company has worked on exploring the potential of their smart screens inside the workplaces, but now as the work from home culture is growing, they will definitely come up with business meeting options on such products.

Those who are already enrolled as a part of G Suite with Google Assistant beta program, they can already join business meetings through Google Meet.

Nevertheless, that feature is also coming out in the upcoming weeks.

Twitter for Android Tests Out New Topics Page

$

Twitter has been modifying its approach in recent times. While the social media platform has had a tendency to set itself apart from the likes of Facebook, the fact of the matter is that it has recently been trying to make itself more content oriented by connecting users with topics that might interest them and accounts that would facilitate their interest in these topics, and a big part of the reason why that is the case has to do with the fact that a lot of users utilize Twitter in an attempt to become more knowledgeable about a variety of topics and leaning into this with new features could be the very thing that Twitter needs in order to gain an edge over its mounting competition.

One way in which Twitter was trying to tackle this issue is by looking into creating separate topics pages that people could follow. For example, if you were a fan of history you could follow that topic on Twitter and see accounts and tweets related to it. This is being changed up now, with Twitter potentially moving towards a singular topics page that you wouldn’t have to follow but can instead peruse at your own leisure which is the sort of thing that can end up benefiting you in a wide variety of ways.

This indicates that Twitter might be shifting its tactics. By consolidating topics and making it more of a reference page rather than something you can follow for content, it is creating a different outlet that users might end up being interested in. You would still be able to follow topics of course, but a consolidated topics page might mean that you would end up seeing all of your topics on that page alone instead of on your feed which could go a long way towards cleaning a messy twitter feed up.

Google Introduces A New Set Of Attributes To Help Businesses In Getting More Customers During The Pandemic

$

0
During this pandemic when every major company is lending a helping hand to its business users, Google decided to follow the trend. The search engine giant is now allowing its users to display their virtual services through “Attributes”. This will help business users to promote their services more efficiently.

An attribute is a tag or a label that helps in describing the service more efficiently. For example, you want to know that if a Clinic is offering online appointments. You’ll enter the clinic name in the search tab. If the desired clinic is offering online appointments, a short note will appear below the clinic name.

This will help the business to get more clients. The searcher will be able to make a spontaneous decision about which place to visit.

A local search analyst Carrie Hill reported that Google has currently added following 4 attributes:
  • Online Estimates
  • Online Appointment
  • Online Care
  • Online Classes

Google My Business users can also add any of the above-mentioned attributes or use attributes from the existing list. Existing attributes list includes:
  • Dine-in
  • Take Away
  • Wi-Fi
  • Outdoor Seating
  • Open
  • Closed
  • Opening Soon
  • Closing Soon
Google attributes have been serving its business users for a long time. Attributes play an important role in grabbing the client. This new feature is useful for every business. Either it is a doctor, a restaurant owner, a therapist, or a real estate.

The lockdown has brought many unexpected changes in the world. Switching to online business is one of them. The good part is that social media platforms are working to give a better experience to their users.

Here is a guide for businesses about adding attributes to their Google My Business list:

Make a Google My Business account or if you already have on, log into the account.

Select the location you’d like to work on

Click Info, available in menu tab

Click on “Add Attributes” and then click on “Edit”

You can select from the existing list. You can either search for one or scroll the list.

Once you are done, don’t forget to click on “Apply”

However, every business cannot add Attributes to its name. It depends on the nature and location of the business. Few business categories don’t exist on the GMB list.

YouTube Is Aiming To Take On TikTok With New 15-Seconds Video Feature

$
0
0
The YouTube versus TikTok rivalry is all set to begin as according to the makers of the world’s most popular online video platform, the Google-owned company is currently working on to introduce a new feature in the mobile version which will allow users to record and publish 15 seconds multi-segment videos.

The option to “create a video” will appear on top in the mobile interface and pretty much like TikTok, once users are ready they just have to press and hold the record button for 15 seconds to make whatever content they want and just release the button to finish recording. If your content requires multiple videos to be recorded that way then YouTube will combine all the clips on its own and upload it as one complete video after rendering it as well.

With the implementation of this feature, users will no longer be able to record videos longer than 15 seconds within the YouTube app itself and they will have to use their mobile phone’s main camera for the task, only to post it to YouTube later.

YouTube hasn’t revealed further upcoming details about whether they would bring more controls or features related to the short-form videos in the form of filters, effects, music, AR, or buttons to change the video speed - that basically makes what TikTok is today. After all, YouTube's new feature won’t be able to survive with the fact of allowing users to make 15 seconds short multi-segment videos.

Nevertheless, YouTube has confirmed that the 15-second videos experiment is not a part of the Stories section and with that being said, there is still confusion on how will the short videos be discoverable within the YouTube app.

This isn’t the first time that YouTube has copied an idea or feature of any rival company. Back in 2017, they brought forward an alternative of Instagram Stories that gave people the option to post most casual videos. Maybe the company has felt that YouTube Stories can’t compete with TikTok or even Instagram’s new clone, Reels since the TikTok audience likes to choreograph or act on the content provided rather than creating own personal vlog and hence they gave birth to this feature.

Youtube made the announcement about its latest feature right ahead of Byte’s big pitch to advertisers about TikTok for Business - a new platform made to serve brands and marketers who want to grow their business with the help of TikTok audience.

For now, the new feature is under the testing phase with the help of creators from both Android and iOS platforms. Will it stay for times to come? Only the feedback can answer that.

Instagram is planning to add a Video Note feature in Threads app

$

0
Instagram launched a new standalone messaging app for 'close friends'. Although it has been launched only recently, October of 2019, Instagram has been fervently working on improvements and new features for this app.

The Threads app is the latest addition to Facebook's "pivot to privacy" and its domination of the messenger app market. This app has the option of business accounts, so it is lucrative for people looking to use social media for any purpose.

According to Instagram, this app has 3 main attractions:
  • The ability to fully control who can reach you
  • The ability to quickly access the people who you message most
  • The ability to passively connect throughout the day.
The app allows only the people you're closest to reach you. It automatically shares your status with your friends, and it has several options for you to select your status.

Also, the app boasts a very attractive feature for the newer generation that is in trend nowadays, Dark Mode. It has several forms of dark mode so that users can customize and select what is most comfortable for them.

The new feature, as reported by Alessandro Paluzzi, that Instagram is testing is 'video note'. This feature will automatically turn the audio in videos, to live captions that will appear in time with the video. This is highly beneficial for users with hearing disabilities. Along with this, it will make it easier for users to understand what their friends are saying and will be able to respond appropriately. Brands will also benefit from this feature; by having captions users will be able to clearly understand the product and its specifications.

This feature is handy and it can entice new users. In addition to this, it will aid in increasing the popularity of this still new app. Instagram is always on the lookout for new ways that will help increase their applications’ popularity or for new ideas that will allow them to either revolutionize or invent new apps that will allow them to increase their already huge brand popularity.

This isn't the first time Facebook has unveiled a small feature to make its apps seem unique. Introduction of shopping tags and gaming filters are just a few examples of just how crafty Facebook is.

Recently, WABetaInfo shared a screenshot revealing that WhatsApp is bringing an old lost feature again. Some time back they decided to roll out animated stickers to spice up the conversations. Now they are re-introducing the most favorite feature of WhatsApp users that was missing after the last update. The removal of this feature made its users perplexed.

Another lost feature is a camera shortcut, visible in the chat share sheet. The shortcut has already been introduced to WhatsApp Beta users for testing and trial. Do not get annoyed if you don’t find it in your WhatsApp and do not kill the update button in the play store. This is because WhatsApp has not completely launched the feature yet. The beta users are still testing it.

This feature will be available in WhatsApp version 2.20.194.11

Another big news is that WhatsApp will be adding Facebook Messenger shortcut to its chat share sheet. In the beginning, users took it as WhatsApp Chat Room. But later they realized that taping on the shortcut would eventually redirect them to Facebook Chat Messenger. Some users are disappointed with this new update. However, few are enjoying the experience.

This new edition of Chat Room shortcut hasn’t been made available for all the users at the moment. Only selected Beta users have access and they are testing it. Let’s see what they have to say about the feature.

The new version of WhatsApp will be a ‘bug-free’ version. Some users experienced a few bugs in the app. They were unable to see that who has received and viewed their messages in the group. When they tapped on ‘Message Info’, it appeared to be blank.

WABetaInfo stated that non-beta users can see who has received and viewed their messages in the group. Even if a blue tick disabled user has received and viewed the message in the group, his name would still appear in the ‘Message Info’ section.

WhatsApp is the commonly used platform for communicating through text, voice calls, and video calls. It has been owned by Facebook. Let’s see what future updates have hidden for us. We are sure it will be something electrifying. Updates are still in process. Beta users are using it as a trial. Let’s see they’d recommend it or not.

Google Photos has been a major solution for image storage for five years, and now the company is rolling out a major redesign for the app. On Thursday, Google officially announced the rollout of the redesigned Photos app for both iOS and Android users. The redesigned app comes with a new logo, simplified UI, and an image map search feature.

The new updates will not drastically change your experience using the Photos app, however, the new changes will make it more convenient to use Google Photos, as the company has made the app much simpler. Now, images and videos will appear bigger on the page, and the search option has become more prominent.

The Memories bar has also been changed and it is more prominent now. A map view has also been added to the Memories bar as the app will put extra emphasis on displaying you your old pictures and videos. With the new updates, users can also hide particular time periods of individuals from their Memories.

Lastly, a new map view for the Photos app has been rolled out. The new feature allows users to view the images they have captured on a map so they can quickly find that particular video slot they shot at the Grand Canyon without having to remember the exact date when they took it.

The company announced that the new design and new features will be rolled out to users over the upcoming few weeks. You will know that you are eligible to use the refreshed Photos app when the revised logo appears on your device. The company has also slightly refreshed the Photos logo. In the new icon, squared-off edges are removed as are the shadowed areas. Now, Google has introduced a new rounded shape for each section in the logo. However, the colors are still the same.

Previously, the logo looked similar to the logo of the Slack messaging app. Now, the logo is not that much similar to Slack’s logo. Justin Duino first highlighted on Twitter that the company is introducing a new logo for the Photos app.

With the new updates, there are now three tabs available in the app instead of four tabs. The main Photos section displays larger and more densely-packed thumbnails while the Search tab allows users to quickly find images based on what or where they were capturing photos. Finally, the Library tab includes the Albums section, favorites, archive, and the trash.

Mark Zuckerberg: Facebook will soon start labeling problematic content that violates its policies

$
0

Most social media platforms take measures when users violate their policies. For this reason, Facebook decided to highlight and label any post that is made by any authority, officials or politicians that might take its policies lightly.

Before this, Facebook and Twitter decided to label President’s Donald Trump posts with a red triangle. Trump’s posts were mostly a part of harsh speech. However, Mark Zuckerberg stated that he will not remove the posts; instead, he will flag the post. This is because the posts are noteworthy and important for the public to read it. The platform will be playing its part by adding a message or a label to the post. The label will highlight that a post is not fully inline with the platform's guidelines.

We still don’t know on what grounds will Facebook consider the violating content and how strictly would they observe the post. Moreover, it hasn’t be stated yet that what these labels would look like and when the social network will start implementing the decision.

Major marketers have pulled their hands and decided to not advertise their campaigns through Facebook. Brands boycotting Facebook states that the social media giant is generating revenue through hateful and humiliating content. The well-known brands have decided to step back and not to involve themselves in Facebook marketing. According to the brands and sponsors, Facebook is supporting racism, hostility, and vicious content, although this shouldn’t be the case.

More than 90 brands are participating in the Facebook ad boycott campaign. Huge brands like Unilever, Coca-cola, Lipton, Dove, Honda, Verizon, Patagonia, Ben and Jerrys, REI are a part of the boycott campaign.

Facebook seems to be unconcerned by the boycott campaign. Although the Facebook owner Mark Zuckerberg didn’t pointed out any brands but he stated that Facebook will not change policies for the sake of revenue or earnings.

However, Mark Zuckerberg addressed that new policies will condemn hateful and harsh language and content in paid ads. Any ad that might be targeting immigrants and refugees will be banned. However, any attempt by politicians to spread false information will be flagged instead of deleting. The post will be labeled with “authoritative information”.

Let’s see if Mark Zuckerbag would stay unaffected with the situation or will he give a second thought to his decision.

The Bitter Truth About Mac's Switch To Apple Silicon Is Finally Revealed By A Former Intel Engineer

Last week Apple confirmed the much-hyped rumor with their announcement at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) that the company indeed is making the shift from Intel Processors to its own Mac Chips (also called as Apple Silicon). While revealing the decision, the executives gave a clear cut reason of how they want to maximize performance and minimize power consumption on Mac with the new “home-made” chips.

However, someone from the Intel engineering team has come up with the argument that Apple has not stated the truth.

While speaking to PCGamer, François Piednoël - an ex Intel engineer told that Apple made the change to get rid of bugs, bugs, and more bugs coming their way over the years. There were big question marks on the quality assurance of Skylake and Intel was getting too much citing for the smallest of problems arising because of the chip. Gradually, Apple not only became the number filer of problems in Skylake’s architecture but continued finding as many bugs as the makers of the chip themselves. So, obviously this move was bound to happen.

Before Apple’s own personal statement came out or the recent revelation by Francois, there were assumptions that Apple was almost tired of Intel missing the deadlines and that created its impact when Apple was forced to keep on launching new Macs with outdated chips.

Now as Apple has the control of processor situation in their own hands, the company would be better able to plan for its line of Macs coming ahead and not face any deadline worries.

Piednoël also said that Apple was already planning to move from Intel and the problems in Skylake just served to be one final push and Intel knew it was coming their way.

That being said, we all are still not sure if Piednoël is right because Apple is adamant on explaining how the same Apple Silicon architecture can make things easier for developers who continue to make apps on the system.

Apple is aiming to create machines that Intel was clearly not being able to cope up with. We can’t wait to see if Apple’s claims are going to be true or not.

In the past few years Instagram has been trying to make its platform as clean and safe as possible and that involved a lot of restrictions on the type of content that could be posted, viewed, shared, or propagated on the platform.

On Friday, the platform’s head Adam Mosseri released a short video on his Twitter handle discussing the tensions over the restrictions placed on content on the platform. In the video, he promised to be as open and transparent as possible with users regarding the company's efforts to make the platform safe.

As more and more people take to Instagram to speak out on social issues, the platform is trying to prevent election interference, specifically in the U.S as it is an election year, explained Mosseri. Although sometimes, these goals clash together. This is the main cause of these tensions over content restrictions.

Mosseri earnestly started with acknowledging users' frustration with Instagram and made clear the differences in opinion that were the cause of these tensions. Some people believe that Instagram took down content that they should have left alone while others believe that they should have taken down more content than they did, especially on political category.

Mosseri highlighted the problems a few racial justice activists faced. The activists discovered that some of their content had been taken down and Mosseri clarified that this was due to Instagram's anti-bot settings; this means that the posts made by the activists were shared, liked, and commented on so frequently that they were mistakenly flagged as bots by the system. He admitted that this was a flaw in their system and that the team at Instagram was working on ways to fix these issues.

If a company wants to improve public relations, the easiest way is to be open and transparent with its workings. The fact that the CEO of one the biggest and most important social network around the world publicly admitted the faults in the system and his public show of humility eased the minds of his critics who were concerned with the censorship settings on the platform.

Finally, Mosseri mentioned his pending paternity and mentioned his three sons who are all under the age of five; this gave a humanizing and humbling touch to his speech. Mosseri then said that he and his team are working tirelessly to make sure that grave mistakes like this are avoided in the future and are actively discussing ways to solve the flaws in the system.

Google is bringing a new feature that will let Android users know the purpose of an incoming business call

Google will soon let Android users know why a business is calling them through the Phone app. The tech giant is developing a feature known as Verified Calls which will identify various anonymous spams and marketing calls. This program will allow businesses to verify their identities and display their names along with the purpose of reaching out on the user’s screen.

To become a Verified Calls partner, according to AndroidPolice, Google will need businesses to share their call’s information before dialing their customers. Details like the business’s phone number, the number of the user it is calling, and the reason for the call such as “Medicines are now ready to be picked up” will be required by Google, in order for that business to become a Verified partner. Verified Calls will save this information in its servers and it will be forwarded to the Google Phone app on the user’s phone.

Whenever the business will call its consumer, the Phone app will cross-check information about the call with the servers, listing down the available data on the incoming call screen. Google says that once the call is ended, it will delete the user’s phone number and the call reason from its servers within a few minutes. It also added that all the verification data will be encrypted, so it can’t be tapped midway the transit and that it will not be shared with businesses. This eases up some concerns regarding security and privacy for the users.

Verified Calls will be in the default configuration of the Google Phone app. However, it can be disabled in the Settings under the Caller ID and Spam category.

Google’s Verified program is still in its early stages of development at this time however, and it is still not confirmed how many businesses have enrolled for the program. Google has been asked about providing more insight on the matter and its response is awaited.

Google is known for actively tracking and cracking down on robocalls and telemarketers over the past years. In many regions, the company now allows users to do tasks like booking restaurant appointments or delegate being on hold on the phone via the Google Assistant. Google has also launched a built-in call spam protection and caller ID support in the default configurations of the Phone app on Android. Users can download the Phone app via the Google Play Store.

Google Meet Is Developing New Features For Education And Enterprise Clients

Just recently Google announced that Nest Hub Max will soon add support for the Google Meet group video conversation. And now, the company revealed that it is developing even more features for Google Meet. The new features are focused on providing an enhanced experience for students and educators. Google Meet will soon allow users to blur their background or use a custom background. Other new features include new moderation controls and hand raising.

Popular video calling apps including Zoom allow users to blur their background. Google will provide various default custom background, and users will also be able to upload their own custom background. You may also note that admins will be able to disable this option.

According to the company, the new frames will help students and teachers to feel comfortable while on video calls from their houses. Google will roll out these custom backgrounds in the upcoming few months.

Recently, Google introduced a 16- participant tile view, and now the company plans to provide a UI that can fit up to 49 persons at one time. The Hand raising features allow participants to ‘raise their hands’ if they have a query. Moreover, the Meeting attendance tool will allow meeting hosts to see who attended their meeting.

Google is also developing a new ‘Breakout rooms’ feature which will make it convenient for large meetings to split into groups for parallel discussions and then reconvene after finishing. Users will be able to engage participants in large meetings with the Polling feature, and additional moderation controls will provide more controls such as presenting, joining, and muting, etc. However, the company did not make clear when these features will roll out.

Later this year, more moderation controls will be rolled out for educators which will allow them to control meeting requests via a ‘less intrusive’ interface. If a teacher will eject someone from the meeting, they will not be able to knock again, and a knock will not appear after a moderator has rejected the request for two times.

Additionally, Google Meet will allow educators to end the meeting for all students, and the company will soon block any anonymous person from joining any Education meeting by default. However, schools will be able to allow anonymous attendees to join a meeting.

The ‘Hey Google’ voice control for Google Meet hardware kits will exit the beta version in the upcoming few weeks. They will be generally made available for Logitech devices and Asus. It has also been reported that the company will soon introduce a virtual whiteboard for Google Meet via Jamboard.
